Imagine if Yugoslavia were still in existence, and had sent a squad for next World Cup.... a combined team of Croatia + Serbia + Slovenia + Montenegro + Macedonia + Bosnia & Herzegovina! Now that would have been some squad, maybe it could have looked something like this (ignore the cheap football kits used to depict Yugoslavia in the formation):
Yugoslavia Squad for World Cup 2014
GK: Handanovic, Brkic, Subasic
Def: Corluka, Vidic, Kolarov, Ivanovic, Nastasic, Subotic, Pranjic
Mid: Modric, Srna, Kranjcar, Pjanic, Misimovic, Rakitic, Ljajic, Lulic
Str: Dzeko, Pandev, Jovetic, Vucinic, Mandzukic,
Potential Starting XI:
And there are so many other quality players I had to leave out... Yugoslavia would have been a top football nation by now, perhaps with a World Cup or two under their belt. The unified Czechoslovakia or USSR would have been quite strong too... I will take a look at their combined teams next!
