Liverpool's £22.8 million forward hasn't won over many fans outside of Merseyside since his move to the English Premier League in January 2011. Last season he spent nearly as many games suspended as he did score goals. The Uruguayan undoubtedly has talent, but he's spent more of his time rolling around on the grass than he has dribbling the football. Here are 10 moments that shame Luis Suarez:
10. Kicking Michael Dawson
The last time I read the rule book, the aim was to kick the football. In this video, Luis Suarez shamefully kicks Tottenham's grounded Michael Dawson instead. Notice how the English centre back doesn't roll around on the floor afterwards but rather gets up. Take note of that Mr Suarez:
9. Refusing Handshake with Patrice Evra
A chance to put the racism row behind him ahead of a big match against rivals Manchester United, Luis Suarez decides not to shake hands with Patrice Evra to make the headlines for negative reasons once more. Manchester United go on to win 2-1. Mind you, should we have footballers shaking hands pre-game anyway?
8. Tugging Rafael's Hair
In a heated battle with Manchester United, Jamie Carragher attempted a nasty challenge on Rafael for the Brazilian seconds later to commit a terrible foul on Lucas. This resulted in a little scrap between both sets of players in which Luis Suarez does something commonly associated with girls, and tugs the opponents hair.
7. Kicking Scott Parker
If kicking Michael Dawson wasn't enough, Luis Suarez lines one up into Scott Parker's stomach. Some will claim this is an accident, but if you look closely, Suarez is focussing on Parker and would have been an air shot if Parker was not there.
6. Red Card Tackle and Feigning Injury
Luis Suarez was just as bad during his time at Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie too. If not worse. In this video, the Uruguayan commits a red card challenge and in the process feigns injury himself as the opponents boot brushes him.
5. Gesturing to Fulham Fans
After a 1-0 defeat at Fulham in December 2011, Luis Suarez was seen raising his middle finger in the direction of the home fans as he walked off the pitch. The earned him a 1-match ban which came just before an 8-game suspension for racial abuse.
4. Gets Jack Rodwell Sent Off
It's fair to say Everton haven't had much luck with referees in Merseyside derbies and October 2011 was no different. Midway through the first half Jack Rodwell was shown a red card for a fair tackle on Luis Suarez. However, the Liverpool player went down like he'd been shot and the Everton midfielder saw red (which was later overturned on appeal).
3. Dive versus Stoke City
You could make a 15-minute of Luis Suarez dives for YouTube if you were that bored. It seems a game doesn't go by these days where he isn't throwing himself to the ground, usually inside the penalty area. This past weekend's flop in the box was one of the worst dives in Premier League history.
2. Double Dive
In a match versus NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie, Luis Suarez goes down inside the penalty area reacting like his leg has foot has been broken. This angers the opposition, whom one of the defenders decides to put his hands on the back of the ground forward. Suarez's reaction is to roll around some more, holding his head. Drama queen.
1. Biting Otman Bakkal
I couldn't defend either of Luis Suarez's kicks featured earlier in this post. I certainly can't defend his actions in the next video. Playing for Ajax versus title contenders PSV Eindhoven in November 2010, team mate Rasmus Lindgren had been shown a red card for a reckless tackle on Ibrahim Afellay. A scrap ensued and Suarez decided to bite Otman Bakkal on his shoulder. A subsequent 7-game ban followed.
Luis Suarez was 1 of 5 players who deserve to face suspension from the FA after actions in this weekend's Premier League games.
