With Only 3 days remaining in the transfer market, which player do Arsenal need?
After losing last year Premier League top goal scorer Robin Van Persie to Manchester United and Alex Song to Barcelona, with new arrivals Lucas Podolski,Oliver Giroud and Santi Cazorla from three different leagues. There is still something missing. Already 2 PL games over, Arsenal the only team failed to score in both matches and happiest thing is kept clean sheet.
Player to replace Song: Alex Chamberlein:
With his outstanding performance against AC Milan in round 16 of Champions league and Manchester United in his first season at Arsenal , The young Englishman said, “Alex Song was a great player for us and he was a big player for us — but we’ve got a strong enough squad. I’m definitely confident of that and I’m definitely confident of filling Alex’s role. But Wenger prefers him in the flank, because he is fast like Walcott. Pacy, energetic and perhaps most importantly, clinical and direct, this could prove to be a defining season for the England international but after being given only 20 minutes to prove himself in Staffordshire on Sunday, Wenger must put his trust in the youngster to see him in the heart of the Midfield.
Arsene Wenger is great admirer of Yann,he showed his interest in bringing the Young French International to North London for past few seasons. After Song departure, the player to come back in to the reckoning is Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila who according to The Daily Mail is still wanted by Arsenal, though they do also report that Tottenham and Man City want the youngster as well. While not mentioning M’Villa by name Wenger did have this to say “I’m pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available.” It was highly likely that was in reference to M’Villa and we will know very shortly if Wenger does indeed make a move for the 22 year old.
One player who fits the "completely defensive" description is Newcastle's Cheick Tiote. The Daily Mirror reported over the weekend that Arsenal were set to make a £15 million offer for the Ivorian. Newcastle will have no intention of losing one of their key players, however, and, according to the Mirror, will demand £20 million. The 26-year-old has been a key part of Newcastle's success since joining from FC Twente two years ago. Wenger, though, has dismissed the idea of Tiote joining the Gunners. "Tiote is a good player, but he is not on his way to Arsenal," Wenger told the club's website. Tiote is not the only Newcastle midfielder to be linked with a move to Arsenal over the weekend, with the Daily Mail claiming that Wenger is also considering a £15 million bid for Yohan Cabaye. Given the France international's characteristics, that would appear an unlikely proposition. Far from a pure defensive midfielder, Cabaye is a passer in the mold of Mikel Arteta. The French international has won a legion of admirers since arriving on Tyneside from Lille last summer forging an excellent partnership with Cheick Tiote.
The Man to Replace Van Persie:
Arsenal fans think Lucas Podolski and Oliver Giroud are the men to replace Van persie's golden boots. After 2 matches, both of them failed to find the nets against Potters and sunderland.Giroud was very near to be on the score board on both occasions, but failed. His stats for last two matches Total shots:5,On target :0,Shot Accuracy:0%.
Jamie Redknapp insisted Arsenal arrivals Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud are not in old boy Robin van Persie’s class. The Sky TV pundit said: “For me, those two aren’t in the same league as Van Persie. I was disappointed in both of them.” But Gunners boss Wenger insists the summer signings will come good. The Frenchman rapped: “I have worked for 30 years on the football pitch, every day. I know what it is to improve a football player". From this Wenger wont sign any more attackers this season.
My Opinion: The perfect man to replace RVP is Radamel Falcao. Some have dubbed him 'the Colombian Wayne Rooney' now has scored 39 goals in 51 apps for Atletico Madrid since signing from Porto last summer. In 2009,Porto paid River Plate just £3m for him. In 2011,Atletico paid Porto £31m rising to £37m for Falcao. Once Wenger said "I would pay £30m,even £40 for the right player" but Falcao would cost £50m+ now.....
