While the days are drawing nearer to the start of the Premier League, most of the teams have been active in the transfer window. Especially the likes of Chelsea in purchasing high quality talents like Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar, together worth around 70mil, while Liverpool have just the solitary purchase of Fabio Borini for 10mil. Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a very good purchase as we needed another striker and he knows how Brendan Rodgers works.

But other than this we have been relatively quiet. Having been linked with a whole bunch of names, however three players have been constantly linked throughout the transfer window. These three being Clint Dempsey, Joe Allen and Gaston Ramirez, and for some reason each time these guys are in the headlines, I keep getting the feeling that they are inching closer to being a Red. What I mean by that is, take Dempsey, Fulham have left him behind to train with the youth players while they are on their pre-season tour. This has added further speculation to him eminent exit, and not to mention the embarrassing error on FSG’s website that Dempsey has signed for Liverpool. Even though Rodgers had an agreement with Swansea not to poach any of their player in the next 12 months, Joe Allen has a clause in his contract that says that he may be sold to certain ‘big clubs’ such City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool. So it looks like that agreement between the two could be tested soon. Also Ramirez’s agent is in London meeting with a club over the possible transfer of Ramirez, even though he is having his meeting in London, Liverpool have been made favourites to sign him.

Out of the three, the one I would most like to see in the Liverpool red would the Uruguayan Ramirez. He has impressed me in the Olympics even though they have been knocked out. He would link up well with our own little Uruguayan in the forward line, as they would know what each other is thinking and doing all the time on the pitch. He is also young and is good prospect for the future. He would also help solve our winger problem at the same time.

But so far none of them are done deals.

While the some players have left, such as Kuyt and Maxi, they also seems to be a worrying amount of rumours that have some our important first teamers going away as well. At the start of the transfer window it was looking like that Skrtel will be the first of the big names to leave as City were circling in on him, but so far it seems Skrtel is settled on staying. But the more worrying signs are the City have turned to commanding Daniel Agger as well as Barcelona being on the lookout. With rumours of Agger apparently wanting out, after he told Rodgers that he wants to move on. If this is indeed true, I would be very much heartbroken as he has become a very influential figure at the back and is one of the best centre backs in the league. However I would not begrudge him a move to Barcelona but it would be unforgettable if he were to move to City, in my opinion as unforgettable as Torres moving to Chelsea. In my views, these Agger rumours seem ever truer after he was left back at Anfield for the Europa trip.

Another player who seems to be getting closer to the Anfield exit is Andy Carroll. The big Geordie is a record signing, and has failed to live up to his price tag. But at the back end of last season he had a major upturn in his fortunes, as he looked the part and carried his form to the Euros where he performed to a good standard. I really thought after this revival, that he would finally be what Liverpool have been waiting for and play a major role in the seasons to come. However it looks like he could be gone, as Rodgers has failed to fully state what Carroll’s role is going to be in this new side. Having been left out of the Europa squad for the 3rd round tie, it seems the exit is inevitable and having received various offers, and apparently Liverpool accepting a West Ham offer of around 18mil. But the good thing is, big Andy has rejected West Ham as wants to impress the new boss and be part of this new Reds revolution. I never thought I would ever be disappointed to see Carroll go, but at this moment I want to really see if he can kick off the new season well this time round. My admiration for Carroll is growing even more now, that he has rejected a move and has said he is happy to fight for his place at Anfield.

I hope that Brendan Rodgers starts to get his targets quickly or else he might miss them and it could be a worry.

What do you think Rodgers will do? Who will he bring in? And who will he move out? Do think Rodgers has got a master plan and will it work?
