Faith makes the uplook good, the outlook bright, the future glorious. We believe in Arsenal.
One thing quite noticeable about English media is the vendetta they carry against Arsenal. They always seem out there to get Arsenal. Even if Arsenal actually manage to win a game, which I agree is a rarity these days, the media somehow find a way to suggest that Arsenal actually were the losers.
Recent win against Bolton was followed by the news ‘suddenly’ surfacing about Van Persie is refusing to sign a contract. Something we all knew the whole summer, but what perfect timing. Arsenal wins in Carling Cup against Shrewsbury Town, but instead of praising the spirit of Arsenal youngsters for coming back from a goal down, somehow major sections of the media made it sound like they lost. To quote one such journalist in his “match report” - Arsenal 3-1 Shrewsbury: Shrews are tamed (eventually) – he decided to forget the game all together:
“Wenger was a man in denial. Denial that his team is struggling, denial that his defence looked fragile again and denial about recent results.”
Arsene says currently title ambition is not realistic and it is made to look like he has waved the white flag and given up already after only just seven games. However he will be made to look delusional if he says that the title is a realistic possibility. It seems there is no getting away for Arsenal right now. So I decided to take a leaf out of media’s book and in the current times of doom and gloom focus on what is always bright for gunners – The Future.
What amazing young talent Arsenal has currently! If you are someone following the reserves games or Carling Cup for that matter, you will notice the potential, which if realised can bring the gunners their own barcelona-esque era. They have potentially the best future keeper in Szczesny, potentially world class midfielder in Wilshere. Combine him with Coquelin, Chamberlain and Miyaichi and there is a potentially world class midfield for you, capable of winning at any level.
Carl Jekinson----Iqnasi Miquel----Kyle Bartley----Gibbs
Joel Campbell----Benik Afobe
Subs: James Shea, Martin Angha, Frimpong, Chuks Anuke, Sanchez Watt
Others - Ramsey, Lansbury, Jon Toral, Conor Henderson, Hector Bellerin
Combine the above line up with some world class signings and imagine the success they can deliver. I know it is hard for fans to see Chelsea and Man City going and signing world class players and Arsenal buying relatively unknown players and developing them. But Wenger’s ability to spot talent is second to none. This time it looks like he has got some gems on his hands. If only he can develop the potential and retain it, Premier League 2016 and after is Arsenals for the taking. In the words of the great Bruce Lee - “The future looks extremely bright indeed, with lots of possibilities ahead -- big possibilities"
